Merrel Rozier went home to be with the Lord on January 10th, 2025. Merrel humbly and quietly served the Lord throughout his life. Merrel was also a barber for 66 years here in Jacksonville, FL, and retired at the age of 85. Merrel is survived by his children: Richard Rozier (Sherry), Donna Ogle (Mike), Aaron Rozier (Terry), and Jason Rozier.
Also a lot of Grandchildren and twice as many Great Grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife Geraldine Rozier of 53 years, his parents Richard and Doris Rozier, and his son Ronald Rozier (Carol). Merrel was born in Gulf Hammock, FL. December 30, 1935, to Richard and Doris Rozier. He graduated from Bronson High School in May 1953.
He also received his diploma in "Practical Barbering and Barber Science" and enjoyed his occupation. On September 25th, 1955 he married his precious soulmate Geraldine Allen and they raised 5 children and lived a very humble and happy life together.
Merrel enjoyed serving his church every Sunday and Wednesday and did so for over 50 years and his favorite place to eat was Famous Amos. He was a quiet man but had his own wit about him. Papa loved taking his grandchildren for a walk inside or outside the house for years and in his early years was seen by many bicycling all thru the Highlands Area.
The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, 11 am at First Baptist Church of Oceanway, 212 Sago Road Jax. FL 32218. Pastor Micah Strickland will officiate
The family will receive friends from 10-11 am at the Church
Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery
