Miles Daniel Cope, 67, passed away on October 12, 2024, in Jacksonville, Florida. Born on August 8, 1957, Miles dedicated many years of his life to his profession as a drywall contractor, founding and operating Cope Drywall Inc. in his later years.
A man of simple faith, Miles was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, attending the Macclenny Ward. Miles was known for his love of the outdoors, particularly horseback riding, whip cracking, and breeding sporting dogs and chickens, always embracing the spirit of a modern-day cowboy.
Miles leaves behind a large family, including his sons, Daniel, Charles, and Pete Cope; his grandchildren and those he thought of as grandchildren, and scores of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brothers, Alton Cope Jr. (Katherine) and Morgan Cope (Cathy); and sisters, Dixie Bodway, Phyliss Cope, Sylvia Griffin, Camille Sweezy (Dick), Marilyn Spicer (George), Barbara Sheffield (Carl), and Lizabeth Waters (Billy). He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Norah Hovan Cope; his parents, Alton Wayne Cope Sr. and Ruby Marie Cope; and his brothers, Johnnie Charles Cope and George William Cope.
A memorial gathering will be announced at a later date. Miles was a spirited soul whose presence will be missed by many.
