Mitchell Clayton Shade, age 72, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 after an extended illness. Mitchell was born in Martinsburg, West Virginia, the son of the late Alaon L. and Helen [Litts] Shade and had lived here in Jacksonville for the past 8 years, having moved here from New Jersey. He was a caring husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed reading, bowling and spending time with his family. Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Barbara Jean Emmons.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Catherine Shade, son, Mitchell Shade and wife Stacy of Tinton Falls, NJ; daughter, Dawn Boyd and husband Robert of Jacksonville, FL; brothers, Alonza Shade of Winchester, VA and Michael Shade of Hagerstown, MD; sister, Beverly Dorsey of Winchester, VA; 8 grandchildren, Nick, Tommy, Morgan, Patrick, Ryan, Matthew, Michael, and Katie.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
