Myrtle Adkins went home to be with the Lord on March 17, 2020. She was born August 19, 1929 to the
late James and Marie Deese of Cottonwood, AL. Living in Jacksonville most of her life.
She was a homemaker that loved cooking, gardening and sewing. She was an active member of Duval
Station Baptist Church before her illness where she volunteered countless hours whether singing in the
choir, serving on the Bereavement Committee or serving dinners. She believed strongly in prayer and
took a great interest in everyone she met. Her inner strength was a result of her deep faith, which she
loved to share with family and friends. She devoted her life to being a wonderful mother and
grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all that were blessed to know her.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Lamar Adkins, Son & Daughter-in-law Bobby and
Elaine Adkins, Grandson’s Lil’ Tommy Adkins and Lil’ Bobby Adkins.
Surviving family includes 3 children, Tommy (Margie) Adkins, Linda (Johnny) Wise and Anthony (Lisa)
Adkins. Grandchildren Sandi (Alan) Woods, Katina (Will) Gehling , Connie Adkins, Kevin Wise, Kaylee
Adkins and Melody (Cody) Godwin. 10 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Her family would like to thank the Lanier Rehabilitation Facility for the care they provided to our there
mother.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 21, 2020 @ 1:00 pm, at Cedar Bay Funeral
Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218 with Pastor Steve McCoy officiating.
Her family will greet friends, Friday March 20, 2020 from 6-8 pm at Cedar Bay Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Arlington Park Cemetery.
