Perry Dennis Williams, 81 years old, went to be home with his Heavenly Father on June 28, 2021, surrounded by his loving family at UF Health North in Jacksonville, Florida.
He was born on March 1, 1940, in Macon, Georgia, moved to Fernandina Beach, Florida in 1967 and moved to Yulee, Florida in 1968. He graduated from A.R. Willingham High School in Macon, Georgia in 1960 and graduated from Jones College in Jacksonville with an Associate in Science Degree in Management in 1974.
After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy on June 17, 1960, and was a Radio Operator aboard the submarine rescue tender, USS Tringa (ASR-16), based in New London, Connecticut, until he received his Honorable Discharge after completing his term of military service.
On April 11, 1963, he married his best friend, Ellen Jeanelle Denby, and was blessed with three sons, Dennis Marcus Williams, James Donivan Williams, and Perry Keith Williams.
On August 9, 1967, he began working at Rayonier Paper Mill and retired as a Chemical Cellulose Operator on October 10, 2002. Previously, he worked for the City of Macon Fire Department as a Firefighter and the Corrections Office with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
He accepted the Lord as his Savior as a child while attending Mabel White Baptist Church in Macon, Georgia. He is currently a member of Yulee Baptist Church and participated in Sunday School, Regular Worship, Bible Study, and Prayer. He also enjoyed serving in the Wednesday Supper and Gracie’s Kitchen Ministries. Previously, he attended North Jacksonville Baptist Church and Hedges Baptist Church in Yulee, Florida.
He was very thankful for the blessings God has given him and so proud of his lovely wife of 58 years as they have shared a wonderful loving marriage together. He enjoyed spending time with his family, enjoyed outdoor grilling, gardening, hunting, fishing, camping, Amateur Radio Operator, NASCAR, NHRA, spending vacations in the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee, Dollywood, served on the Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary, Volunteer Fire Department for Yulee, and taking moonlit walks on the beach with his beautiful and loving wife.
Perry lived his life to the fullest and always looked forward to sharing family memories together. Perry was loved by so many people and his loss will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.
He was predeceased by his parents, Odis Donivan Williams and Nellie Mae Brooks Williams, parent-in-laws, Leeila Bledsoe Denby and George Denby, brother-in-laws, Monroe Denby, Thomas Clark and Stanford Denby, aunts and uncles, Dorothy Williams, Betty Williams, Ernest Williams, Omer Williams, and Roger Williams.
He is survived by many loving family members and friends including his wife, Ellen Jeanelle Denby Williams, three sons, Dennis (Robin) Williams, James Donivan Williams, Perry Keith Williams, one brother, Doni (Wanda) Williams, sister-in-laws, Helen Clark, Glenda (Robert) Clark, and Jennifer (Jim) Plunkett, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32218. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Doug Sides officiating, and the burial will be at the Jacksonville National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to Yulee Baptist Church, 85971 Harts Road, Yulee, Florida, immediately following the memorial service at the National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. for a reception. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Perry Williams to the Yulee Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 486, Yulee, Florida 32041.
