Phyllis Arango Smith, 59, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024. She was born on December 8, 1964, in Brunswick, Georgia to Virginia Griffis and Phillip Arango. She has lived in Jacksonville most of her life and was Baptist by faith.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Steven Smith; mother, Virginia Dale Griffis; daughter-in-law, Jarah Smith; grandchildren, Abbie Smith, and Ricky Lambert; brothers, Wade, Timmy, and Ricky.
Phyllis loved spending time with her family, spending time outside, going shopping, and collecting things. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all.
Survivors include her sons, Phillip Smith, and Jonathan Smiley; daughter, Ashley Smith; father, Phillip Arango; sister, Kellie Hathaway (RJ); brother, Tommy Griffis (Tina); grandchildren, Phillip Jr., Kaelyn, Paetyn, and Bailey, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024, at 3 pm in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, with David Cox officiating. The family will receive friends starting at 2 pm.
