Richard Spaulding Obituary

Spaulding,                        Richard Edward  Spaulding, (85) of Jacksonville, FL, Retired Airforce Senior Master Sargent

He served his country proudly, during the latter part of Korea and on the ground in many places in Vietnam, Ed was stationed overseas in Italy, Spain, France, and the UK.

He passed away after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, JoAnn Kirkland Spaulding (Jacksonville, FL), his children, Roy E. Spaulding, Scott Hendry (Terri), LorieAnn Thornhill (Tom), Lauren Spaulding (Wilter). His pride and joy were his Grandchildren: JoAnna Garrett (Cory), Scyleesa Roch, Rhiannon Brooks (Austin), Dalton Maceda,  John Pettit, and Alexander Pettit. GreatGrandChildren: Nataleigh, Jeramiah, Aralynn, Warren, Parker, Ronin, Kylo, Asher, Annley.  Predeceased by his parents: Dolly Moon Spaulding, James Hamilton Spaulding. His Brothers: James Spaulding (Winifred), Raymond Spaulding (Margaret), Nathan Spaulding (Carolyn), Grover Spaulding, Stannon Spaulding (Sue), Jim Spaulding (Vickie), brother-in-law: Gary Kirkland (Pat), and many nieces and nephews.

He was such a great example of how to love unconditionally for all who knew him. He lived his life in such a selfless and giving way. If he had a way to help someone in need, that need was always met. He loved the Lord and always listened to the “indicators” of the Holy Spirit. He was almost always able to cheer the brokenhearted and make them smile. He will be so missed.

We will hold services to celebrate his life as follows: a viewing on Tuesday, August 17th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218. His celebration service will be held on Wednesday, August 18th at 11:00 am at Good Samaritan Church, 44 Jericho Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218, with Rev. Christopher Threadgill officiating.  After service, there will be a procession where we will lay him to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery located at 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
