Richard Alan Wilson of Jacksonville, FL passed away at home on January 30th at 2:15 a.m. Born on February 1, 1954, he was the son of Gilbert Wilson (deceased) and Shannon Beaty Hensley (deceased). A 1972 graduate of Wapahani High School, Richard also attended autobody repair school in Nashville, TN., which he referred to as “pinging and dinging” school. Richard worked with his dad in the family junkyard business before wedding Elaine Wilson of 42 years and moving to Jacksonville, Fl where he continued working in auto repair for a variety of organizations before joining his wife in her florist business, Flowers by Elaine, from which they retired after 32 years in operation.
A consummate story teller, of which he sometimes remarked “this one might actually be true”, Richard truly never met a stranger and he freely shared memories of days gone by, especially those that involved cars – he could recite the make, model, year, and color of every car he ever owned.
Richard is survived by his wife Elaine Wilson, children Shannon Moran (Jim), Michael Wilson, Ona Giles (Michael), and Sammie Wilson (deceased), seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, four sisters, Barbara Cox (Terry), Bettye Crawford (Joe, deceased), Diana Zimmerman (Gary, deceased), and Charlene Davis (Rod, deceased), many nieces, nephews, and friends.
