Roberta Simpson Wood

Roberta Simpson Wood, age 74, of Jacksonville, Florida, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday morning, March 4th, 2023. She was Born on July 24th, 1948, in Jacksonville, Florida, where she spent all 74 years of her life. She was the daughter of the late Robert F. Simpson and Barbara I. Simpson. She attended North Shore Elementary School, Kirby Smith Jr. High School, and Andrew Jackson High School. She was high school sweethearts with her husband, John Wood, and had known him since they were young, living right behind each other on west 41st and 42nd street. Roberta loved to praise her Lord and Savior and go to church, where she loved to sing and dance. She was the happiest when she went to Calvary Temple Assembly of God, singing in the choir. Roberta enjoyed working as an administrator for many years, mainly for the State of Florida and Florida Rock industries. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend to anyone who knew her. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, John A. Wood, of 57 years. Her three daughters; Michele Wood Leonard ( Jamie Thomas), Angela Lynn Wood ( Lamar  Searcy ), Barbara Rene’ Kaleel ( Ralph Jackson ); Two nephews; Gene "woody" Wood, and John "JJ" Wood. Eight grandchildren; Ashley Bodden, TJ Leonard ( Jordan ), Johnny Study (Natalie), Trey Hall (Oriana), Jessica Bennett (Tristan), Dustin Study (Harley), Cuylor Hall, Maleah Hall; nine great-grandchildren; Layla, Jazmin, Calvin, Calli, Jayden, Ava, Greysen, Lakelynn, Mariana and two more on the way in the fall of 2023. She also leaves a caregiver Patricia Curtsinger and many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

 Visitation will be held at Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, Florida, on Thursday, March 9th, 2023, from 11 am- 1 pm. Funeral services will be followed at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32218, where Pastor Timothy Nelson will be officiating the service.
