Mintz - Rodney Derrick Mintz, age 55, passed away on January 30, 2026, after a long battle with cancer. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, Rodney was a lifelong Floridian whose humor, warmth, and larger than life personality left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Rodney was a natural storyteller and always ready with a punchline and a grin. Laughter followed him wherever he went. When Rodney wasn’t making others laugh, he could often be found fishing and enjoying the peace of the water and the simple joys of life.
Above all, Rodney was a father and proud grandfather. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Carley Devereaux (Mintz), and her husband, Seth Devereaux. He adored his three grandchildren, Presley, Emery, and Riley Devereaux, who brought him immense joy and pride.
Rodney is also survived by his loving mother, Linda Grace Mintz; sister, Terry Guthrie, and her husband, Bruce Guthrie; and his nephew, Hunter Guthrie. He was deeply loved by his family and will be remembered for his big heart, quick wit, and the happiness he brought into their lives.
Though he is no longer with us, Rodney’s laughter, stories, and love will live on through all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
The tribute above was prepared by Rodney’s loving family.
