Ronnye Jean Newell

Newell - Ronnye Jean Balutis Newell, age 73, of St. Mary's, Georgia, passed away on September 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born on October 24, 1951, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Leonard Balutis and Stella Danishefsky Balutis. Graduating from Cardinal Dougherty High School in 1969, Ronnye then went on to Sacramento State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Drama. She married Glenn Newell in 1991 and was happily married for 20 years until Glenn's passing in 2011. Ronnye was a lifelong animal lover; she showed and bread English Mastiffs from the mid 1970's to the mid 1990's; many to become national championships. Later in life, Ronnye was very active in the theater, whether it was for school or in the community. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Ronnye is preceded in death by her father, Leonard Balutis; mother, Stella Danishefsky Balutis; husband, Glenn Newell; and brothers, Frank Balutis and Lenny Balutis.

Ronnye leaves behind her devoted daughter, Ashley (Perks) Thomas; son-in-law, Shane Thomas; and loving grandchildren, Chelsea Thomas and Liam Thomas.
