 Shirley Whiten Reed, 78, passed away on Monday January 13, 2020. She was born in Anderson, SC., to the late John and Kathryn (Nicholson) Whiten and has lived in Jacksonville since 1968. She is Baptist by faith.  She is preceded in death by her mother and father in law, Ralph and Lillian Reed. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend and will be dearly missed. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Kenneth Reed; daughters, Cynthia Reed Rowe (Henry), Patti Reed Reece (Terry), Julia Reed Warren (John), and Tracey Reed Roth (Chad); granddaughter, Rochelle Curlee (Sam), great grandchildren, Liam Curlee and Lilliana Curlee; And a host of other relatives and friends. Shirley loved gardening, crusing, camping,crafting and retired as Supervisor from American Bank Stationary. Funeral services will be held on Friday January 17, 2020 at 3pm in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, with Rev. Jim Matthews officiating. The family will receive friends starting at 2pm on Friday at the funeral home. The family would like to express special thanks to Shirley’s best friend of over 50 years, Shirley Thompson aka Shirley #2, for being the true definition of friendship, support, and love.
