Stephen John Marinko

Stephen John Marinko Jr., 77, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 7, 2023.   He was born on November 8, 1946, in Savannah, Georgia to the late Stephen John Marinko Sr. and Alvena Marinko.  He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and faithful friend to many.  He is survived by his daughter, Brittany (Gerald) Schley, grandchildren Gabriella, Logan, and Faith, his sister Eddie Marinko Morris, his nephew Corey Morris, and his great nephew Zayn Morris.  Steve was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps, where he served his country for 21 years.  He served in combat in Vietnam and retired as a First Sergeant.  He was also a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Oceanway, where he served faithfully in many areas within the church, with his primary area of service being the FBC Oceanway Food Pantry (which was permanently named the FBCO Steve Marinko Food Pantry). Steve dedicated the last several years of his life to meeting physical and spiritual needs throughout the Oceanway community.  Steve was a man of honor, integrity, service, and faith.  Ooorah!  Semper Fi!

A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023, at 11:00 A.M., at the First Baptist Church of Oceanway, 212 Sago Ave., Jacksonville, FL, with Bro. Micah Strickland officiating. It will be followed with graveside military honors at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.  His family will receive friends at 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to FBCO Steve Marinko Food Pantry.
