Stephen Glenn Pumphrey

Pumphrey - Stephen Glenn Pumphrey, age 71, known to family and friends as Glenn, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, in Jacksonville, Florida. Glenn was a lifelong commercial fisherman and crabber who spent much of his life on the water. He was a simple and independent man who never needed much for himself but had a generous heart and cared deeply for others. Glenn was especially known for his soft spot for homeless cats around the boat docks, often making sure they were fed and cared for. Glenn’s faith was an important part of his life. He loved the Lord, cherished his Bible, and had a deep desire to understand and live by God’s Word. He earned a Master of Divinity degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and continued to value his faith and studies throughout his life. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Hall and Donald Pumphrey; and his stepfather, Jim Hall.

Glenn is survived by five sisters, one brother, and many extended family members and friends who knew and loved him. Glenn will be remembered for his quiet strength, his simple way of life, his love of the water, his devotion to his faith, and the kindness he showed to both people and animals. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Memorial Service for Glenn will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32218. Family and friends are invited to gather to remember Glenn and celebrate his life.
