Thomas Larry Barber, Jr.

On Saturday, December 29, 2018, the world lost a beautiful soul. Thomas Larry Barber, Jr., 75, son of Thomas and Hazel Barber (deceased), was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and mentor. In his life he was an amateur radio (HAM) operator for over 40 years. He was a Senior Vice President for a large paperboard and packaging company. He retired at the age of 59 and became a successful real estate agent going on to mentor several agents who became successful in the field. He served as a deacon at his church, Terry Parker Baptist; as well as, serving on several committees in the church. Most of all he was a Godly man who was loved beyond measure. While deeply saddened, his family and friends are comforted in the knowledge that he is being greeted by God with open arms.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; 3 daughters, Laura McCartney (Todd McCartney), Beth Barber, Katie Maupin (Richard Maupin); 6 grandchildren, Lauren Pierce, David Pierce, Taylor Maupin, Brandan Maupin, Makayla McCartney, and Kaitlyn McCartney; and Sister; Linda Norton (Wayne Norton). He never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at Terry Parker Baptist Church, 7024 Merrill Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32277 on Friday, January 4, 2018 at 11am. A luncheon will be held at the church after the memorial service.  
The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Arlington Food Bank.
