Troy Lee Mercer, 74, passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023, with his loving family at his side. He was born in Alma, Georgia on April 27, 1949, to the late Arvin and Inez (Raulerson) Mercer and has lived most of his life in Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by his son, Rusty Ratliff, granddaughter, Connie Jones, brothers, Benny Mercer and James Mercer, and sisters Minnie Garrett and Sue Huffer. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Shirley Mae (Westberry) Mercer; sons, James Ratliff and Troy Mercer; daughter, Juanita Raulerson (Wayne); brother, Jimmy Mercer (Nadine); sisters, Shirley Smart, Betty Jo Miller (Jack), Diane Lee, and Glenda Mercer; grandchildren, Trisha, Lacey, David, Randy, and Kelly; great-grandchildren, Vivianna, Johannah, Logan, and Brooke and a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends that will cherish their memories of him. Troy was an avid fisherman, and gardener, he loved working with wood, fishing, and spending time with his family. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 11 am in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, FL., with Betty Jo Miller officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday morning starting at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
