Vernon Louis Thomas, 73, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2020 in Jacksonville, Florida, where he had spent most of his life. He was born January 18, 1947 in Folkston, Georgia to the late Roy and Lula (Morgan) Thomas. Vernon retired from Gilman Paper Company and was a Baptist by faith. He was a long time member of Bit & Spur Saddle Club where he was a Horse Farrier and active in the horse shows. Most of all he was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Diane Thomas, 2 brothers and one sister. Survivors include his son, Tracy Thomas (Melissa); daughter, Sandy Miller (Steve); sister, Sue Allen; grandchildren, Anthony, Casey, Jasper, Jared and Kenton; great grandchildren, Ryssa, Waylon, Cayden and Noah and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 11 am in Ogilvie Cemetery, Jacksonville with Pastor Jimmy Flanagan officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6pm to 8pm at Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville.
