Paul - Marion “Virgina” Paul, age 87, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026, at Community Hospice Center for Caring at UF Health Jacksonville. Virginia was born to Marion and Vera Williamson in Ailey, Georgia, on June 16, 1939. She moved to Jacksonville, Florida at a young age and has been a lifelong resident since. Virginia graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1958 and went on to become a legal secretary with Rogers Towers Attorneys at Law, being a loyal member of their team for 20 years. After a 7-year courtship, Virginia and her beloved soulmate, John William Paul, enjoyed 34 wonderful years together and had two daughters. Virginia found her greatest joy in the company of her family and friends, deep connections and creating lasting memories with those she held dear. A huge sports fan, you could find her cheering on her favorite teams, the Florida Gators and the Tampa Bay Rays. Her passion for the game was a shared joy; alongside her husband, John, she frequently opened her home to host lively Super Bowl parties. These gatherings became a cherished tradition, filled with laughter, camaraderie, and Virginia's warm hospitality. Weekends were often reserved for fishing and soaking up the sunshine at Horseshoe Beach. Virginia’s later years were defined by her devotion to her faith and family. Demonstrating her profound capacity for love, she spent 13 years as the sole caregiver and constant companion to her aging mother, opening their home filled with endless warmth. Her faith found a home at Starratt Road Christian Church, where she was a deeply active member. Virginia's greatest legacy lives on in her four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who she cherished beyond measure. Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, John Paul; and parents, Marion and Vera Williamson.
Virginia leaves behind her daughters, Jenny Bender and Treasure Dawn Adams; grandchildren, Kyndell (Clint) Roddenberry, Cole (Shelby) Bender, Collin (Natalie) Connor, and Kymber Adams; great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Lyla and Easton; brothers, Bobby (Fern) Williamson and David (Gayle) Williamson; as well as many extended family members, friends, church and work family.
A Celebration of Virginia’s Life will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Christ’s Church River City Campus, 2311 Starratt Road, Jacksonville, FL 32226. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Virginia will be laid to rest at Jacksonville National Cemetery, reunited at last with her beloved husband, John. Arrangements are under the care and direction of CEDAR BAY FUNERAL HOME, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, Florida, 32218. (904) 714-1110.
